If you’re considering submitting your film to us and wondering if your project is the right fit, here is a quick guide to evaluate if your project is a good fit for the Festival.

As a mountain film festival adventure should be central to your films storyline .

Many WMFF films have a central theme the involves conservation and environmental preservation.

We look for films that have powerful stories. The stronger your story the better.

Films

Absolutely! We accept all film submissions through FilmFreeway

Films are selected by a panel of judges in addition to the WMA board of directors. 

While we love getting films submitted by local filmmakers, the Wasatch Mountain Film Festival is a competitive international film festival with submissions from more the 50 countries each year. 

The Wasatch Mountain Film Festival features films that both question and celebrate the human experience and reconnect us with nature.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

We collect submissions through FilmFreeway, an easy-to-use platform servicing 400,000 active users and over 7,000 festivals. If you don’t already have an account, you will need to create one.

Please be prepared to complete the application in full. Incomplete applications will not be considered. You will need to provide the following:

  • Full and complete contact information
  • Film information including a short synopsis and specifications
  • Headshot and filmmaker bio
  • Entry fee
  • A link to a Vimeo online screener
  • Acceptance of Rights and Releases

REQUIREMENTS

  • A complete application including a trailer, headshot, bio, and preferably a Vimeo screener link. Your link must be active until the festival date.

  • Wasatch Mountain Film Festival is a documentary film festival. Please reconsider applying if your film is fiction as it will most likely not be accepted. If your film does not clearly fit into one of our categories please submit under “Other.”

  • Film entries may be of any length, from any country and on any subject in keeping with our mission. Subtitled films should either be in English or include English subtitles.

AWARDS

Wasatch Mountain Film Festival honors filmmakers and film subjects alike, awarding prizes that are announced at the Closing Screening on Saturday of each annual festival. View the award winners.
